Portraiture Helpful Hints
Sittings
Sittings are available for both daytime and evenings and the single sitting fee covers any combinations you may request from a family group. Whilst we will have lots of suggestions for your photographs we are always pleased to listen to special requests. A session will produce both black and white and colour pictures and can often include working with two backdrops.
Clothing
Our style of portraiture can be tailored to suit your personal style, whether you choose to wear casual denims or formal evening wear. For family groups we suggest that you confer to avoid any clash of colours or tones and since casual clothes with large logos tend to dominate a photograph suggest that these are best avoided or reserved for individual portraits.
Preparing Children
Whilst prior thought and preparation is helpful for all photo sessions, please bear in mind that it can easily be overdone with children. Encouraging children to "smile and say cheese" can lead to forced and unnatural facial expressions, and children who have been asked to "behave" are sometimes wary of the experience. Much better to play it down and let them enjoy themselves on the day. Bring a favourite toy perhaps, and be ready to make a game of it all.
Timing
In planning a portrait sitting we allow plenty time for customers to view our portfolio and discuss preferences, for changes of clothes and for lots of photographs. We would therefore ask you to be prompt, rather than early, as we do not have a large waiting area and we cannot guarantee that our visitors' parking will be clear if clients are very early for an appointment!
